Either way, he wasn't used to all these teenagers asking him all these awkward questions. 'Majima, were you worried about us?' 'Majima, are you dead?' 'Majima, what was your body count?'
Gosh, what did you nerds want from him. ]
Nah. Ain't normal at all, from what I can tell. We've had some trouble with the dust, sure, but the fuckery's just pilin' up lately. First Lamar, then these zombie nutjobs.
Then again, if ya believe the locals, there was a gap between when the first of our couple of groups showed up and the last time people from other worlds arrived in Reims. So maybe we're part of a larger pattern.
How many different things has the dust done, that you can remember?
[ Newt's seen things closer to Zombies, and he almost wants to point that out, but he keeps it to himself. He doesn't want to talk about Cranks right now. About what happened to Winston. ] I don't believe the locals. We should figure out what the pattern of arrival is. It could help us figure something out about this place.
There's the dust in the Reset Room The dust blowin' in from Ile Lacroix The dust in the vent that Lamar rigged up The dust storm just now The stuff that came outta those Sound Eaters we blew up, dunno if that counts The birds The body And the footage
Some of those might be repeats, dependin' on how you wanna count 'em.
And you've seen all this happen firsthand? Bloody hell.
And it's all done different stuff but it seems like the same batches of the stuff does the same stuff. Like losing colour vision. Which means it either changes or we change.
Man, you don't know how much I hope it's the first one.
Just can't figure it out. It all looks the same, so how can it act so different all the damn time? At least if we knew when it was gonna act up, maybe we could be ready for it.
I was following these footprints in some red dust and I ran into a guy. A couple of us did, actually. It was Lamar.
Kylo Ren can get into people's minds or something. I don't know how, but I've seen it.
Back when we first got here, Majima mentioned something about people who can control minds, said someone named Kilgrave was one of them. I didn't really believe him when he told me.
[... oh. great. so when thomas took off with nancy, newt had been alone with someone who, according to majima, can control people's minds. you can bet your ass thomas is going to feel some heavy guilt about having left newt by himself (with plans to come back if he hadn't heard from him by a certain time, but still).
man, what a fucking day. ]
No, probably not. Just do me a favor and stay away from him, okay?
Tommy, I think I'd be worried if things started feeling right around here.
[ He'd been fine, Kilgrave had just prodded him for information and demanded his help, that he'd intended on giving to begin with. Nothing for Thomas to be too guilty over. ]
[ Ugh how dare you make him actually get up from his bed and open the door. Said gravity theorist has some intense cowlicks going on that clearly say he laid down with wet hair and had been too lazy to do any preventative measures like actually brush his hair. ]
[ it's not exactly late in the day yet, but thomas only half-expects newt to be out somewhere, either working or being social or snooping around for answers to questions they may have not even thought of yet. for as close as they are, it's not as if they exchange hour-by-hour schedules for the day. maybe general plans, so they know where to look for each other should something happen, but otherwise, they both still have their freedom.
( what a funny word, freedom. will they ever truly know the meaning of it? )
thomas looks up from the colorful wrapper in his hands at the soft sound of the door opening, his expression shifting from quietly neutral to faintly amused as he catches a glance of newt's hair. it's not messy, per se, but it does look a bit like it usually does when he's first woken up.
the foily wrapper crinkles quietly as thomas drops his hands by his sides, his brows lifting slightly. ]
[ Newt's attention is, of course, drawn to the noise of the foil, but it doesn't stay there, because Thomas begins speaking. Newt lets out a huff of a laugh and brings a hand up to squeeze at Thomas's shoulder. They don't really have anything to gossip about as far as Newt knows, but that might have changed, he's not sure. Either way, he never scorns a visit from Thomas. Not that they're ever really too far from each other. ]
Ya didn't do anything wrong. [ There's no need to apologise. ] I started feelin' tired at work so I came home for a nap. I've been awake for a while though. [ His hand falls from Thomas's shoulder to run his hand through his own hair. ]
What's up?
[ It's never as simple as just coming home from work and going to bed usually. Most days he has to deal with food, so he ends up covered in food or guts, which is gross. And he's passed out in his own bed and Tommy's bed once or twice smelling like work, he usually tries to wash off and change before that. ]
During the dust storm -- un:kyouken
There's knife-wieldin' maniacs outside. Just a friendly warning.
awwwww
I noticed. Saved a guy from one. They're made of dust, you know?
You okay?
hey nerd
Just one?
says the nerd :p
I figured getting inside was a better plan than waiting for more of them.
Silence isn't really an answer if you're okay.

[ you know, as opposed to what Majima did...... ]
The other dude okay, too? He a new arrival?
no subject
[ Because it sounds like a lot. ]
Yeah. To both questions.
Is this usually how it goes? I mean, how often do people show up?
no subject
Next time I'll keep better track.
[ """next time"""

Let Newt live, he worries about Majima okay. ]

Kinda hard to believe something like that is naturally occurring if you ask me.

But I also couldn't tell ya why anyone'd think making that shit was a good idea. Probably why I ain't a scientist.

[ HE WANTS TO BELIEVE YOU'RE NOT AN EVIL WICKED TECHNICIAN MAJIMA. ]
Could just be a variable or a test. Know of anyone immune to the dust?

[ because they're ANDROIDS gdi, they should be immune ]

And Kilgrave.
tommy he hates these kinds of texts
Kylo Ren? Why? Did he do something?
What about Kilgrave?
sry not sry

[ Even if he's itching to know how, to see it for himself. ]
I met him. He didn't seem that bad. Didn't seem that good either.
no subject
Wait, you met him? Kilgrave? When?
no subject
When Lamar pumped dust into the dining hall. Helped him sort himself out. I reckon it was the same Kilgrave, not a common name is it?

Good that. I'll be here, Tommy. Take care of yourself.
